okay... I am seriously back this time
took a lot of time off because of grajumating from college and all that. So in order to get back into the swing of things I will be doing a TV meme. Probably one you've all seen from a million years ago. Anyway, here goes!

I'm not quite sure how I can say goodbye to something that I've been a part of for six years. I'm not sure if anyone knows/remembers, but I got a Dharma tattoo for my 21st birthday, this wasn't a decision that was made lightly. I love Lost, I'm gonna miss it like I miss a friend I know I'll never see again. Not dead, but gone. Okay, this is gonna get sappy, so all nay-sayers leave now, this is my time to grieve.
I'm giving a goodbye in the best way I can think, and that's a countdown of my top ten favorite Lost episodes of all time (discounting the FINALE since I haven't seen it yet). Complete with my reasonings and some heartfelt meanderings. Hold on to your hankies, I'm gonna Jear.
( my goodbye... )

So I had another Lost dream. What's up with that?
In this one, IT WAS THE LOST FINALE and Smocke had captured all the remaining candidates (and Frank and Ben) and tied them up to chairs with lots of duct tape. Smocke had gained all the information about Sideways World that he needed and he was suddenly able to send his mind through space and time to inhabit the mind and body of Sideways Locke. Oh noes! I looked like Smocke was gonna destroy both worlds!
But then, Ben got free! He found a knife and he freed all the other Losties from their binds, being very quiet so as not to alert Smocke. But as he approached Smocke from behind, Ben saw that he didn't seem to be cogent in their universe while he was occupying the mind of Sideways Locke. So Ben had to finish this once and for all. He pressed the knife against Smocke's back and...
He couldn't do it. He was too good to kill anymore, especially Locke, the guy he's killed at least twice. He was about to step back and shrink away when suddenly THE ROOM WAS OVERTAKEN by these folks who looked like they were part of Starship Troopers, and they were shouting and firing guns at something. And it pans out and HOLY CRAP there's a huge batte going on all around them! It turns out that Lost was taking place in SyFy's Riverworld, which hasn't even come out yet and it's in my dreams. The Lost finale revealing that it was all a lead up to a SyFy miniseries event?
I don't even know what to make of this. But I am excited for Riverworld.

So I had a Lost dream last night. Or, at least, Lost was a big part of it. I was on a road trip to Florida with all my roomies (Liz, Kristin and Ange) and when we found this ritzy place to stay, this big southern cop came up to Liz and told her that she was under arrest. I think she had written something in the newspaper that someone didn't like so they brought her up on trumped-up charges.
Turns out, Sayid was being held captive in this hotel! By Charles Widmore! And it was pree Iraqi Eeyore!Sayid (although why he didn't just bust out his Jack Bauer School of Badassery moves, I don't know) and he asked me to pleaseplease help him escape. They were sitting at this really nice dining table but the rest of the room was kinda drab. Widdy was keeping a suspicious eye on me, and that Tina Fake character was there (Chloe? Zoe?) and she was trying to determine if I was a spy. Because I had told Widdy that I had some vital information from the enemy camp that would turn the tide of battle in his favor, and it was supposed to serve as a distraction for Sayid to escape. Tina Fake tried to throw me off (giving me fake tapes to show Widdy to expose me) but I was on to all her plans!
Then, I musta woken up for a sec, because the dream changed. It was the same room but it was very lavishly decorated (lots of reds and crystal all over the place). Ange was all like "OOH LOOK AT ALL THE SHINY STUFF" and was going around the room touching things. I told her to stop and she might or might not have. All I knew was that there, on the big red sofa, was Jacob! He told me that he had something very important he wanted me to do and we had to sit down and talk about it. Kristin came over and started talking to Jacob alluvasudden and I don't remember what she was saying but Jacob looked really bored. I told her to go make sure Ange didn't break any of Jacob's stuff. He said it was okay, that's just the way they are. He told me that he needed me to go on a mission with him (I guess I was something like the new Richard?) and of course I agreed.
I don't really remember much else, but Jacob and I went on an adventure, and there was some water involved at some point. But I'm pretty sure Jacob is the good guy and I am not Team Widdy. Maybe it also means there's some sort of redemption for Sayid eventually. Or so my subconscious would like to think.
IUNNO, THOUGHT I'D SHARE.
ALSO: THIS IS A REALLY SWEET BIT OF MUSIC. It's only a small part of the whole thing, but I dare you not to be, like, entranced.

There are teachers who just teach to get it over with. The ones who would prefer to record lecture and not even bother with coming to class to teach you. I've had some of those.
There are teachers who like to teach and give you good marks because you do what they tell you to do. Teachers who like your writing style or the way you do correct MLA citation. Safe teachers, those you know how to please and will let you glide through if you know the right buttons to push.
Then there are teachers who make you think. Teachers who have something in their blood and in their voice that speak to something deeper than what you've signed up to take (for the requirement or, rarer, for the fun of it). Maybe it's the timbre in their voice, but maybe it's what they're saying that hits a chord somewhere where you thought higher education had dug you out and made you complacent. It's almost impossible to find, someone who makes you think. Really think. Not about rock strata or verb conjugation, but think. Use the muscle you were born with to do something great, a motivation to be and to do beyond what you've done.
These are the people I live to meet, to be in the same room with. Someone so human at face-value who unfolds in an hour into an intellectual. Who says something that means something and looks you in the eye when they say it. And you walk away thinking, and you keep thinking. Makes you want to do. I believe my Myth teacher is one of these people.
Question everything. Think.
